Enterprise

Polar Lights 1/350th Enterprise 1701-A, fully illuminated with special effects lighting and a custom Base. No slots open for the remainder of 2007. Taking orders for 2008.

Welcome to my 1/350 Enterprise A build. Alot of you have been following my build in various forums, and I would like to thank you all for your support, encouragement, and kind words. I have picked many of your brains, and I believe that this build is a culmination of all your tips and help. I have received many emails regarding my Aztec patterns, so I would like to address that first. To begin with, the kit is primed with 131S DuPont automotive acrylic lacquer primer. IMHO, one of the best primers to use. It can be laid down to a point that will not hide the most subtle and delicate of surface detail. This is allowed to dry for a week. I then sprayed a base coat of Testors Acrylic flat white to the primary hull. This is also allowed to dry for 1 week. Then comes the tedious part. I begin to lay down the Aztek Dummy's templates.

I would like to say that I have never had an issue with the Aztek Dummy's templates pulling up any of my paint. I do not apply much pressure to lay them down, and I also do not do anything to make them less tacky. I work very slowly and very patiently. If you feel yourself becoming frustrated, the best thing to do is get up and take a break. Once the templates are down, I spray my main Aztec color. Pearlescent satin white that can be purchased from WASCO.I allow the color to dry for at least 2 days. I then begin to carefully remove the AD templates. I use my finger nail to accomplish this as to avoid scratching the paint.

Notice how the pearlescent paint 'sheens' as the light source strikes it, and how it is virtually invisible in low light. It is a beautiful subtle pattern, and this is only the main aztec :)
