The sensor dish was first frosted with Rustoleum Frosted Glass. The ring of lights was then opaqued and painted to prevent light leaks.

The concave part was airbrushed blue, and the spokes on the clear dish were painted white. The resulting effect is a very close match of the studio models sensor dish

The dish is lit with a white LED tinted with clear blue. The head of the LED is shaven down flat to help in dispersing the light. The digital camera adds a hotspot where there is none to the naked eye.
